Information we collect
When you create an account, we store your name or business name, email address, password hash, verification and sign-in records, and account sessions. We do not store your password in plain text.
Listings include the address, approximate location, property details, price, availability, description, photos, and contact information you choose to provide. We also keep drafts, moderation history and renewal records. Contact and listing reports include your name, email, message and any property reference.
Newsletter subscriptions include your name if provided, email, selected listing category, confirmation status and delivery history.
What visitors can see
Approved, active listings can show the property address, details, optimized photos, and the contact name, company, email or phone entered for that listing. Your account email is not automatically a public contact field. Only enter contact details you are comfortable publishing.
Drafts, account credentials and support messages are not public. People may copy or share public listing information, and search engines may retain cached copies after a listing is removed.
How we use information
We use information to operate accounts, validate addresses and the 30-mile service area, identify duplicate properties, review and display listings, prevent abuse, answer requests, and send account, review and expiration messages. Property addresses may be sent to the U.S. Census geocoding service for location checks.
We use site activity to understand visits, referrals and which listings and source sites people use. We do not currently sell personal information or use targeted advertising tracking.
Cookies, analytics and external images
Sign-in uses essential session cookies. First-party analytics use a random session identifier in browser session storage, with referral hostname and campaign information when available. Activity records can include page visits, listing views and outbound source clicks. These records are pseudonymous rather than a guarantee of anonymity.
Our application analytics do not store raw IP addresses. Hosting and security logs may contain IP addresses and request details. Contact spam controls use keyed identifiers derived from network and email information.
Some listing thumbnails load directly from another website. That provider receives a browser request and may receive your IP address, browser details and referrer information under its own policies. External listing links take you to independently operated services.
You can clear browser storage or control cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies can prevent account sign-in.
Email choices
Daily property alerts require a confirmed subscription. Each alert includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops newsletter alerts; it does not delete your account or stop necessary account, security, listing review, renewal or support messages.
We use Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) to send mail. Email processing can include delivery, bounce and complaint information, and engagement information where enabled in the email service configuration. We keep delivery records to operate and troubleshoot the service.
Service providers and disclosures
We use AWS hosting, database infrastructure, email delivery and private backups to run Piketon Housing. Administrators and providers can access information as needed to operate, secure and support the service. We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse, safety or legal claims.
Piketon Jobs and linked real estate, rental and booking sites have their own policies. Creating a Piketon Housing account does not enroll you in their services. We do not currently collect payments or payment card details.
Retention and removal
A listing’s 60-day publication period is not a data deletion deadline. Expiration, withdrawal, archiving or deletion hides the listing from public view, while listing records, moderation history and optimized photos may remain privately retained for recovery, administration and backups. We resize uploaded images and strip embedded metadata; original full-resolution uploads are not retained as listing photos.
Uploaded listing photos have a daily cleanup policy: photos for deleted listings become eligible after 30 days; photos for expired listings after 180 days from expiration; and unreferenced files, including removed photos and prior crops, after 7 days. Referenced photos on active listings, drafts and archived listings are retained. Cleanup begins in preview mode until the administrator enables deletion, so eligible files may remain longer. After expired listing photos are removed, renewal requires new photos and resubmission.
Account, subscription, analytics, support and delivery records do not currently have a single automatic deletion schedule. We retain them for service operation, security, request handling and recordkeeping. Unsubscribed email records may remain to preserve subscription status. Backups rotate separately, and information removed from active systems may remain in backups until those copies expire.
Requests, security and children
Use our Contact page to request access to, correction of or deletion of your information, or to ask a privacy question. Include enough detail to identify your account or listing, but do not send passwords or identity documents. We may need to verify your connection to the information and may retain limited records for security, legal or operational reasons. Applicable privacy rights depend on your circumstances and the law.
We use safeguards such as password hashing and restricted account sessions, but no system can guarantee complete security. The service is intended for adults posting or managing property listings, not children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change. Material changes may also be communicated through the site or email. Privacy questions should be directed to Piketon Housing.
